December 29, 2009...christmas break my senior year at Westmont College, Daddy was diagnosed with stage-4 lung cancer, the doctors gave him 9 months to live. At the rate things were going that first month, we did not think he was going to make it to my graduation...but he did, and he walked all around that hilly campus, and not only did he live, he thrived. Surpassing the doctors expectations, and he managed to LIVE 2 years and 9 months (to the date!) and left us on October 29, 2012.
Through it all, I chose to choose joy..."Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
And to believe that no doctor, WebMD, book, movie, or other person is in charge of our timing. No one but God can tell us when it is time to go home.
And now I am trying to figure out life without Dad, which sucks and hurts and all the above. But, I still have an amazing mom, a ridiculously cool brother, rock solid extended family, and crazy friends who know just what to say.
Oh, and I workout, alot.
